How ranking works
PlayItDaily collects free daily web games in one place. When you click Play, you go through a quick tracked link (/play/<game>). It records an anonymous play and then sends you straight to the game on its own site.
Definitions (rolling 30 days, UTC days)
- Play
- One visitor playing one game on one calendar day. If you click the same game several times on the same day, it counts once.
- Plays (30d)
- Total plays of a game over the last 30 days, today included.
- Players (30d)
- Distinct visitors who played the game at least once in that window.
- Return plays (30d)
- Plays from visitors who had already played that game on an earlier day in the window. This works out to plays minus players. Someone who plays on 5 different days adds 5 plays and 4 return plays.
- Stickiness (return rate)
- The share of players who came back on at least one other day.
- Popular score
plays + 2 × return plays. Coming back is the clearest sign that a daily game is good, so it counts extra.- Trending
- Plays in the last 7 days compared with the 7 days before, smoothed so tiny games don't jump around:
(last7 + 5) / (prev7 + 5).
Your streak
Your streak counts consecutive days on which you played at least one game through PlayItDaily. The streak survives until the end of the next day. Star games to add them to your My Daily checklist. You get an anonymous ID, stored in a first-party cookie and in local storage. No account, no email.
Scores and leaderboards
After playing, log your result by tapping it or pasting the game's share text (Wordle, Connections, Strands, Worldle, Quordle, Nerdle, Framed, Costcodle and many more are understood automatically). Pick an optional username (no password, it's tied to your browser) to appear on today's per-game leaderboards and the Top players board. Scores are normalised to 0–100 per game so averages are comparable.
Launch simulation
During our launch period, leaderboards and play counts include activity from simulated players so the site isn't empty while the community grows. Simulated activity is flagged in our database and will be phased out.
Bots
Known crawlers and link previewers are not counted. Repeat clicks within a few seconds are ignored.
