The best daily geography games
Worldle, Globle, Tradle, Travle and more: free daily geography games for map lovers, and what each one tests.
Geography was one of the first subjects to get its own Wordle, and it’s still one of the best fits. A map gives you natural feedback: distance, direction, "hotter" or "colder". These are our favorite daily geography games, grouped by the skill they test.
Shapes and outlines
- Worldle: name the country or territory from its silhouette in six guesses; each miss shows the distance and direction to the answer. French developer Antoine Teuf launched it in January 2022 (Wikipedia), and within weeks it was nearing a million users (The Washington Post).
- Statele: the same idea for U.S. states.
- Satle: identify the place from a satellite image.
Hot and cold on a globe
- Globle: unlimited guesses on a 3D globe that colors each guess by how close it is. It was made by Abe Train of Trainwreck Labs (hey.gg).
- Globle: Capitals: the same mechanic with capital cities.
Routes and borders
- Travle: connect two countries by naming the ones in between, with only a few spare guesses beyond the shortest route.
- Travle USA: the same with U.S. states.
Data detectives
- Tradle: guess the country from a treemap of its exports. It was built by the team behind the Observatory of Economic Complexity (AUTOMATON West), so the data is real.
- Juxtastat: five head-to-head questions comparing places by their statistics.
- Countryle: deduce the country from hints about its continent, population, climate and coordinates.
Flags, photos and places
- Flagle: reveal a flag one piece at a time.
- WhereTaken and TimeGuessr: place a photo on the map (and, in TimeGuessr, in time).
- GeoGrid: an Immaculate-Grid-style 3×3 of countries that match two conditions.
A geography routine
A good ten-minute set: Worldle for shapes, Globle to warm up, Travle for borders and Tradle for something to think about. Star them on the geography page to build your Daily Set. If you liked Worldle, there are more in games like Worldle.
